China Golden Week travel: daily-average spending rose 4.3% in 2026

· Data

China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT, 文化和旅游部) reported on 9 October 2026 that residents made 826 million domestic trips over the seven-day National Day holiday. Domestic tourism spending reached RMB 738.375 billion, up 4.3 percent on a daily-average basis from 2025.

Daily-average trips and spending increased

According to the MCT, the figures were estimated by its data centre (数据中心). Trips and spending were compared with 2025 on a comparable, daily-average basis (按可比口径(日均)).

Spending grew more slowly than trips. On a simple calculation, spending was about RMB 894 per trip; the MCT did not publish a per-trip figure.
