China’s 2026 express volume passed 150 billion items on 29 September, according to State Post Bureau (SPB, 国家邮政局) data in a report the Ministry of Transport republished on 8 October. That was 12 days earlier than in 2025. In this article, we look at the milestone, the bureau’s 9 October network figures and the examples cited.

Express volume passed 150 billion items on 29 September, 12 days earlier than in 2025
The figure comes from a China Transport News (中国交通新闻网) report republished by the Ministry of Transport (交通运输部). According to SPB monitoring data, China’s 2026 express volume exceeded 150 billion items on 29 September. The source compares this with 2025 only through the 12-day gap.
The report gives no year-on-year growth rate for the cumulative volume. It does not state the date on which the 2025 total passed the same mark.
The report cites village delivery, factory services and a Zhengzhou–Moscow express train
The report gives three examples. In Yongchang County, Gansu, combined passenger, freight and postal services now bring parcels into villages. In Danyang, Jiangsu, express companies moved service points onto production lines.
For international shipments, it says a Zhengzhou–Moscow express train reaches Moscow in about 10 days. Its logistics costs are about one-third lower than air freight, according to the report.
More than 6,300 items enter the delivery network every second, the SPB said on 9 October
On World Post Day, 9 October 2026, the SPB gave further network figures to CCTV News (央视新闻), in a report carried by CNR (央广网). Annual express use per person exceeds 140 items. On average, 540 million parcels enter the delivery channel each day.
| Indicator | Figure |
|---|---|
| Annual express use per person | More than 140 items |
| Items entering the delivery channel per second | More than 6,300 |
| Parcels entering the delivery channel per day (average) | 540 million |
| Value of goods carried through the channel per day | More than RMB 30 billion |
| Villages reached through postal backstop delivery | 2,939 administrative villages in 17 pilot counties |
| Administrative villages with a village-level delivery and logistics station | More than 81% |
The same report names Yunnan coffee and Yan’an apples as local products that the postal and express sector has helped bring to market.
